Developing the whole child

Rocky Mountain Preschool was started in 1987. RMDC's goal was to establish an all-day year-round early childhood program to provide quality, affordable day care for children 2 1//2 to 6.

Rocky Mountain Preschool, while not a Montessori School per se, is based on the philosophy and teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori. She believed that "the child who does not do, does not know how to do."

Our program balances the child's developmental need for freedom within limits with carefully prepared class-work materials and experiences. As a result, the child develops intellectual, physical, and psychological abilities.

Staffing cosists of a Program Director (also a lead teacher), one other lead teachers, four assistants, plus Foster Grandparent Volunteerss. In total the staff has over 40 years combined experience working with small children.

Each year, Rocky Mountain Preschool helps about sixty Helena children how to learn for themselves. We offer a safe, clean, nurturing environment.
