Area IV Agency on Aging

Area IV Agency on Aging is a wealth of information and a first stop for anyone who has questions related to aging services and caregiver issues. Information and Assistance (I & A) staff help senior citizens access the information and services they need to live independently and with digntiy.

Senior Centers

Rock Mountain Development Council manages Senior Centers in various cities throughout Montana. Seniors in all of these communities join their local Senior Center for a modest membership fee and come together for meals, activities, and services.

Foster Grandparents (FGP)

RMDC's Foster Grandparent Program gives approximately 100 Foster Grandparents an opportunity each year to make a difference in the lives of youth in our community. Foster Grandparents work with children in a variety of settings such as elementary schools, preschools, Head Start classrooms, faith-based sites, or other nonprofit organizations that serve children.

Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides a variety of volunteer opportunities for people 55 or better so they can remain active and involved in their communities.

Senior Companion Program

The Senior Companion Program provides volunteer opportunities for seniors 55 years and over. Volunteers provide services for homebound elderly or adults with special needs who with a little help are able to maintain their independence and continue living at home.

Senior Transportation

RMDC provides free transportation to Helena area senior citizens participating in the following programs:

• Helena Senior Center
• Daily Dinner Club
• Senior Companion Program
• Foster Grandparent Program
• Senior Volunteer Program
• Area IV Agency on Aging

The buses are handicap accessible with wheel chair lifts, and operate Monday-Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. RMDC provides approximately 20,000 one-way rides per year.
