The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is designed to help low income households meet the expense of keeping warm during the cold months. Those who qualify receive credit to their utility account if heat costs are paid directly and a heat rebate if heating costs are included in rent. Those who use wood are usually paid directly for wood purchases.
