Foster Grandparents
RMDC's Foster Grandparent Program gives approximately 100 Foster Grandparents an opportunity each year to make a difference in the lives of youth in our community. Foster Grandparents work with children in a variety of settings such as elementary schools, preschools, Head Start classrooms, faith-based sites, or other nonprofit organizations that serve children. Volunteers serve between 15 to 40 hours per week.
Foster Grandparent volunteers strengthen the children of our communities by sharing their expertise and knowledge they have gained over the years. Income-qualifying men and women, 55 years of age or older are eligible to participate in the Foster Grandparent Program. A few of the benefits provided are:
- Nontaxable Stipend
- Mileage Reimbursement
- Vacation

- Most Importantly, an opportunity to remain a vital part of the community.
