Long-Term Care Ombudsmen, part of Rocky's Agency on Aging team, advocate for older adults considering or living in assisted living and nursing home facilities.

Ombudsmen provide information and referral services to older adults who are deciding whether or when to move into long-term care setting. If requested, they will also involve family members or friends in these discussions. The Ombudsman’s role is to encourage all involved to consider a variety of services and options that help older adults lead beneficial lives.

Our certified Ombudsmen make regular visits to long-term care settings and advocate for quality care and living conditions for residents. Ombudsmen are resident-focused, responding to complaints and concerns from residents and working with those involved to resolve problems, including:

  • Resident rights
  • Quality of care and quality of life
  • Medicaid, Medicare and other insurance
  • Improper transfer or discharge
  • Abuse, neglect or exploitation
