Housing

Rocky Mountain Development Council and its partners in the housing arena are working to address our communities' most pressing housing needs.

Meeting the need for low-income rental properties

Through rehabilitation and new construction, RMDC is working with community partners to ensure an adequate supply of rental housing in our communities. Since 1999, Rocky has rehabilitated or constructed 146 multi-family units.

Meeting the need for quality single family residences.

Gr8 HOPe

Since 2002, 36 income-qualified, first time home buyers have become homeowners through RMDC's Greater Helena Area Affordable Home ownership Program (Gr8 HOPe).

High School House

RMDC staff, local contractors and Helena Public Schools are working together to build a third "High School House" which will be a great experience for Helena's students and a quality single family residence for a Helena family. (Press Release: 2006)

Meeting the needs for specialized and transitional housing.

RMDC is partnered with the Montana Veterans Foundation to renovate a facility to provide a transitional living facility for homeless veterans.

RMDC has also partnered with the Lewis and Clark County and the Friendship Center to construct a new 12 unit emergency and transitional facility for victims of domestic violence.

Helena Housing

Jeff Miller, Community Development Director for RMDC said about the High School Houses: “This project is particularly gratifying because it gives students a chance to build life-long skills, and at the same time allows RMDC to further our goal of increasing affordable homes in our community.”
